After serving as offices for Shell in Lutong, these colonial style rock solid building was finally being demolished. I think they were build in the 50's.
The block faces the clinic. Used to house the Petroleum Engineering at the far end.
Used to house word processing and mail room downstairs. Upstairs used to be Operation at the near end.
The center block at this end was the computer room. At the far end, light green roof was the clinic. Four of my children were born there!

Centenary Gala - Party in the Park
Tonight we attended the grand Centenary Gala party at the KRP padang (football field).
Every table had a cake.
The biggest sit down dinner I have ever seen!
A section of the layout
We were entertained ... "flame thrower" by the fire-eaters & fire-jugglers team.
Flame licker!
Touching flame
Miri Orchestra performing
Opening speech by the current chairman ... Annuar
We were being entertained by some famous stars.
Anyone knows who she is?
The grand stand was big and the laser show (blue in colour) was impressive. The pyrotechnics is not world class but definitely an eye opener!
Another singer ...
The crowd went crazy... it was party time!
Many people crowded around the grand stand.
Synchronized fire work....
The firework ran for exactly 10 minutes non stop! It was amazing!
Some of the VIP attending the celebration. From top, clockwise... (ex MD) Datuk Brian Anderson, Datuk Tan Ek Kia, Datuk Lim, Datuk Wee, Zainul Rahim, YB Lee, David Lau, YB Andy Chia.
The kids were entertained by clowns.
(Note: Please do not try out the flame thrower at home. I shall not be held responsible if you try them out!)

Shell Centenary Tree Planting
This morning, we had a tree planting event at Lutong Bailey Bridge. That is near to the old refinery.
Arrival of the youngest participant.
Arrival of VIPs, YB Lee and Dato Sri Douglas Uggah anak Embas, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
They were briefed at the Mulu Hall.
Dato Sri Douglas gave a speech.
Tree planting near the Bailey Bridge. I believe this is the only Bailey Bridge left in Miri.
Every VIP planted a tree.
Every staff who turned up also planted at least a tree each...
Successful result of Lutong River Project care - river was cleaned and replanted with trees.
Everyone was treated to a light meal.
Media interviewed the minister.
Yeah ... it was a good day!

Shell Centenary Celebration - WHPH
The following are some of photos I took yesterday on the centenary celebration at KRP (Petroleum Recreation Club) Lutong. The celebration kicked off yesterday morning with a treasure hunt followed by an afternoon of work-hard-play-hard event.
Lots of fresh fruits
Games ...
Foods... burger, hot dog, ice cream, etc
Everyone had a good time!
Sand badminton! Irene demonstrated her 'kung-fu" skill...
Japanese wrestling!
Ball game of a different kind!
Everyone had the opportunity to take a photo dated back to 1910!
Joshua was looking at the gold fish! Each one was sold for RM2.00. He pestered me for money but at the end, he got 4 fishes for free!
Hilarious fashion show...
He was a hot favorite ... he did a fantastic job!
Lita was showing off at the cat walk!
The Angel...
She was so excited .... at the end, we all laughed until we almost fainted!
Technical knock out!
Jerry was probably the noisiest one at the field! But good... he added life to the games!
Invisible energy was demonstrated at the tug-of-war. Non participants probably spend just as much energy "pushing"!
yeah... Simon ...
Ok, his team was the overall winner! Congratulations!

A-Z of Stress Management
Always take time for yourself, at least 30 minutes per day.
Be aware of your own stress meter: Know when to step back and cool down.
Concentrate on controlling your own situation, without controlling everybody else.
Daily exercise will burn off the stress chemicals.
Eat lots of fresh fruit, veggies, bread and water, give your body the best for it to perform at its best.
Forgive others, don't hold grudges and be tolerant -- not everyone is as capable as you..
Gain perspective on things, how important is the issue?
Hugs, kisses and laughter: Have fun and don't be afraid to share your feelings with others.
Identify stressors and plan to deal with them better next time..
Judge your own performance realistically; don't set goals out of your own reach.
Keep a positive attitude, your outlook will influence outcomes and the way others treat you.
Limit alcohol, drugs and other stimulants, they affect your perception and behaviour...
Manage money well, seek advice and save at least 10 per cent of what you earn.
No is a word you need to learn to use without feeling guilty.
Outdoor activities by yourself, or with friends and family, can be a great way to relax....
Play your favourite music rather than watching television.
Quit smoking: It is stressing your body daily, not to mention killing you too.
Relationships: Nurture and enjoy them, learn to listen more and talk less.....
Sleep well, with a firm mattress and a supportive pillow; don't overheat yourself and allow plenty of ventilation.
Treat yourself once a week with a massage, dinner out, the movies: Moderation is the key.
Understand things from the other person's point of view......
Verify information from the source before exploding.
Worry less, it really does not get things completed better or quicker.
Xpress: Make a regular retreat to your favourite space, make holidays part of your yearly plan and budget.......
Yearly goal setting: Plan what you want to achieve based on your priorities in your career, relationships, etc.
Zest for life: Each day is a gift, smile and be thankful that you are a part of the bigger picture........

About English word
I overheard my colleague talking about a computer about to expire. What she meant was that the warranty is about to expire. So, what is the meaning if we say someone has expired? Well, it means that the person has breath his/her last. Or he/she is dead!
