Subsidised Rice No More

From the beginning of this month, government subsidised rice is no longer available. That means that the usual price of RM18 for 10 Kg is now off the shelf!
I did a quick survey yesterday and found that the cheapest is RM23 for 10 KG. I remember seeing RM22 for 10 KG. So, if you are poor and eat a lot of rice, you now have to fork out more $$! Anyway, I was told that if you are poor, you can still get subsidised rice.

Anyone knows where to buy cheaper rice?

I think it will be very sad that one day poor people of Malaysia will have to line up for long hours in the rain to collect rice coupons for their 10 kg bag of rice. Most families earn less than 500 ringgit per month and have to spend 100 ringgit on rice minimum...they can eat salt cucumber and limes...steal a mango or two or pluck some free meedin..ikan bilis is now for the YBs and the rich at RM25 per kilo. Belacan is RM30 per kilo.

Now where is the money for insurance etc.or children's extra books?

William may be you can start a blog on how to live well with RM500...

thanks for the timely article.
