This is the first sign which confirmed that I am entering Nott Uni!
The administrative block greeted me.
Looking from the entrance of the admin block, you will see the guard house (main entrance) and the lake with fountains (not visible).
On entering the admin block, I was greeted by this "invention" by the students. It is a very nice piece of engineering.
Every building is linked by covered walkway. This is extremely useful for tropical country where the rain pours without warning. The only other University which has almost 100% covered walkway is Leeds University which I believe is the longest in Europe.

Next I visited the in-campus residence. The residences are named after Malaysian islands.

Outside the room, you see this. So you have to pay for what you use. The air-con is there. But the moment it is switched on, this meter ticks away....

Next I went to visit the off campus private accommodation. It is actually only a stone throw away.

There are two rows of houses facing each other. Did you notice that the place is very clean? Well, the management includes full time cleaner!

Only disadvantage with Nott Uni is that there is hardly any makan store nearby. However, not too far away, there are village restaurant which provides good food. Also, there are shutter service to Kajang where you can get anything you want. Anyway, the objective is to go there and study. So worldly distraction should be kept as far away as possible.

I'm surprised Nottingham University built a campus in another country =0 But I hope it makes it cheaper for international students, because coming to the UK is disgustingly expensive for foreign students IMO.
you should have come visit my room in off campus.. i am here at nottingham, msia campus.. hehe.. enjoying life here while suffering from courseworks.. but anyway, u r a good father..
Something to keep in mind. With Sterling Pound at RM5.30, the cost of doing the course in UK itself has dropped substantially. And there is also the possibilities that Sterling Pound will go even lower, may be to pre-1997 Asian crisis of RM4?
And it is only logical that doing it in their UK campus has better quality and better exposure.
AT... hahaha. Thanks. I went all over KL and shop for my daughters last time. They can handle "A" level. So, plenty of places to go. I am happy that they ended up in Methodist College, KL.
Phil, Nott has a campus in China also. The fees in KL is indeed a lot cheaper. It is about 5000GBP a year. Accommodation is also cheaper. Before my three girls ended up in Leeds, I also brought them to UK looking at various places - Cambridge, Birmingham, Leeds, Nott, Coventry, etc. I am hoping that they will be motivated to study hard when I bring them to "shop" for a Uni.
There are quite a lot of foreign students here.

Kong, around RM4?! I like that! Sure ah? I agree that if the pounds keeps dropping, it is better to go overseas.
Regarding RM4.
I based my saying on 2 things.
1. It was only during the 1997 Asian financial crisis that the pound jumped to RM7. Now the shoe is on the other foot so why wouldn't they come back to square one?
2. Technical Analysis. My pass time. Chart wise, Sterling Pound had completed the double mountain top (meaning since 1997, it has been to RM7+ twice in 1997 & 2005) formation. Now it's hovering at these mountain base of RM5+. Should this base breaks, then it will form a valley at RM4.

If you plot the GBP vs RM chart, you will see there is a double top.

In Technical Analysis, double top is pretty reliable. Of course, the reverse might happen, GBP could instead go for a Triple top formation and move to RM7+ again.
Hahaha... Looks nice... But it's kinda far too outside city... getting food sometimes could be a problem, as i gather from my friends who studies there...
The only way I know how.
Talk to them. Educate them. Encourage them. Assist them to identify what are the values they should have, categorize it, crystallize it, fortified it. That will be their inner compass throughout life. Once they are beyond your reach, what else can you do but pray?

We need to teach our children value from small age. Once they grow older, it is very difficult already.
I was confused about values, moral values and ethics before. In fact, they are all difference. On Value. I thought all values are moral in nature and that is not correct. There are so many types of values like money, fun, movies, cars, integrity, honesty, family, education, friendship, boyfriend/girlfriend, trustworthiness, watching television, food etc. In fact, anything that is considered valuable to a person can be considered a value. Since we all desire/values different things, it’s OK that we have different set of values or different Personal Value System.
Once I understand that, I find it’s best to sit down and list out our own personal sets of value. Identify them. Categorize them. Prioritize them in order of importance. Set in stone in our head. And practice them with integrity. Over time and hopefully, whatever thing we do will be consciously or unconsciously a reflection of that PVS. It becomes 2nd nature, it becomes sort of our inner compass in how we response to things, events and people. Consciously or unconsciously. I believe that is the No.1 thing we should help our kids with. Without that inner compass, they will get lost and it’s a big, fancy, good, bad world out there.

Danny, I have no idea. Last time I visited them, they have DUMC members in their staff.
In terms of an International students accommodation, the dormitories located on most college and university campuses are safe, convenient, and in most cases, fun.
