Hari Raya is a time to see lots of beautifully made kuih, ie, cake, etc. They were so beautifully made that looking at them will cause me to imagine the amount of work and time required to make them. So, would it be a waste to eat them? They do taste fantastic!

See the fine artwork. I was told that those from Kuching were not so nice as they spend less time and love in it! From Kuching, the pattern is bigger. |

See the dedication required to make the pattern in the center. |

oh man!!! i love kuih lapis sarawak...really love it!!!! miss it so much...
Yes, they taste heavenly! I also love them!
I have this crazy thought in mind, don't eat cake too much or you'll get fat! This is a belief that I hold till today.
Though, I appreciate the dedication for those who prepared the cake. Sleepless night just to prepare this cake for you to eat.
A bite or two is fine for me. I'm more attracted to the meats that they serve.
See the contradiction here on my belief system on foods. Hehehehe.
They say do not eat the ones from Kuching - all the presevatives, so can keep for a long time. But there's one Chinese lady there - so famous for kek lapis - featured on ASTRO - hers a lot nicer and no preservatives...unlike those sold along the streets e.g. Main Bazaar. I tried hers on my recent visit. Indeed, really a lot nicer.
