Volkswagen AG in Hamburg, made the most economical car in the world with an engine capacity of 1-litre, powered by diesel. It consumes just 0.99 litre per 100 KM. Apparently, the top speed is 75Km/hr.
I am not sure how much it cost but apparently the information I received says that it cost less than US1000.
To give you an idea on the economy, it cost less than 2 cents per km or less than 30 cents from Lutong to Miri.

My darling will buy .
Why not our country come out with a single seat car powered by palm oil?
Matthew, you are very lucky!
Ya, since the demand of palm oil has dropped...
You should consider getting yourself a golf TSI or Jetta. It is even more or equally low fuel comsumption than the hybrid in our town traffic condition.
lasapka, Golf TSI is very expensive. This one, I understand it, is less than US$1000.
W,
when you sign your cheque, you write RM1xx.xxx.xx ONLY.
Thing with diesel is that in Europe the diesel is much higher quality diesel than what we get here from what I've been told. We don't know what are the side effects of poor quality diesel getting in the way, and also if we raise the quality of diesel to that of Europe's, what would that cost per liter of diesel?
All modern diesels have particulate filters that if not constantly in proper operating temperatures will result in clogging, power loss and needing replacement. i.e. unless you drive your diesel a lot like some heavy duty trucking and hauling day in, day out - this may affect you. A clogged filter replacement isn't cheap. These particulate filters do as they are named, because even though diesels are advertised as 'green' or 'clean', they emit less in terms of emissions but they still emit soot, which are carcinogenic, which is why they come with a such a filter in the first place. The filters work by heating up and burning excess particulates. But like above it only works if run long and hot enough.
DPF: I was told that the diesel and petrol in Brunei are of better quality.
