It was a day of music & dancing ...

Sunday, 17 May 2009, was a day of ...
... music and ...
... dancing. Our Pusat Injil Methodist Tudan (Tudan Methodist Preaching Centre) has every reason to be very happy. We started our BM Ministry in Permy Jaya settlement back in 2004 and at the beginning, the worship was done in the home of a member. Later, we rented a shoplot which we use until today. The members grew from 2-3 families to the current congregation of 100+.
The developer (Naim Cendera) decided to donate a piece of land complete with land fill for our BM Ministry usage. They came out in full force last Sunday for ...
... a earth breaking ceremony by our SCAC President, Dr. Rev Su Chii An. The BM ministry will finally have their own permanent building right in the middle of their settlement - a community of poor neighbourhood. More fund is needed to build the church.
...Dr. Rev Su strike the gong to signify the opening of a new chapter in the BM ministry. The ministry should bring hope for the people there. May the Message be spread to all the people in the settlement. Being poor is one thing... but may their spirit be rich!
A group photo of most of the attendees...
Pastors from far and near who came to witness the ceremony...
... and of course, it ended with more dancing, music and food!

BM Ministry, Permyjaya, Miri

A humble beginning, Nov 2004

... just 2-3 families of indigenious people in Permy Jaya/Tudan were interested to know more about God. Thanks to Brother Eddy who link up with them. At the beginning, we have our Pastor Lau Hui Seng, Brother Anthony and Eddy who pay them regular visit. I tag along recording the event on photos.

... A few months later, April 2005.

... the Sunday School. Mind you, this room was very warm! Mak Mat was one of the SS teachers!

Many "town" children would not want to be in there! But they stayed on... to listen to the bible story.

June 2005, Pastor Law continued to teach them ... They came to GMC to present songs on July 2005 ...
Many people were baptised in 2005 ...
April 2006, the room was overflowing.
Cute children! They didn't run around or make noise while the parents listened ...
Oct 2006
April 2007. A new Pastor Chan. Fluent in their language is now the new pastor.
This is what I called dedication!
Iban ministry has grown from a few people in 2004 to more than 100 now. They are not "migration Christian" but new "home grown". I am very proud of them. The next article is the testimony of the late Jan van Regteren to this group of indigenous people. Do pray for their spiritual growth and salvation!
