Tamu Muhibah - Native Market Part 2
I almost forgot to post this second installment of photos taken at Tamu Mubibah (Market). Anyway, here it is... photos taken at the market.
Another type of "cooking banana". yummy yummy
Bamboo shoot ... we ate a lot of this stuff when we are young - poor man food!
Lemon Grass - very fragrant, normally for curry and Tom Yam Soup
You also find live pet fish - very hardy fish from the (monsoon) drain
Herbs
This is young shoot from coconut tree or palm tree. Crunchy and nice!
I was told this is for cooking curry
Wild ginger root
This is made from the stem of coconut leave. Used for sweeping floor.
Balacan - fermented shrimp paste.
Prawn/fish cracker. Too colourful to be healthy!
Dried shrimp
Raw sago flour - I will blog about how this is made later.
From left: Fried sago pellet, honey, assorted herbs
Baby mango for eating with sambal (dried prawn + balacan + chili)
Bamboo for cooking rice. The hollow is stuffed with meat and rice. Cook over fire. Very nice!
From left: don't know what is that, sago pellet, baby shrimp fermented in brine
Young jack fruit - for cooking
This fruit is actually quite nice and sweet (looks like assam but it is not)
